The Air Transport Emission Model (ATEM) was developed in 2023. The model is designed to make accurate fuel use and emission predictions for different aircraft in different flight phases, such as ‘taxiing, ‘take-off’, ‘climb-out’, ‘cruise at altitude’, ‘descent’, ‘approach’ and ‘landing’.
The model was first deployed in the 2024 Brisbane-Melbourne mode shift emission impact study.
